United States Provides Additional $4.2 Million for Humanitarian Assistance in Rakhine
The United States recently provided an additional $4.2 million in emergency aid to victims of violence in Rakhine State. United States Government Assistance to the People of Kachin State
To date, the United States has provided approximately $5 million in assistance to IDPs in Kachin State, including funding for food, water and sanitation, shelter, psycho-social trauma counseling and protection and empowerment training.

Patrick Murphy visited Myitkyina and Waingmaw in Kachin State to speak with Government and security officials, internally-displaced persons (IDPs), and civil, political and religious leaders about the ongoing conflict in Kachin State.

MTV EXIT “Live in Myanmar” Concert
More than 50,000 fans turned up for the MTV EXIT "Live in Myanmar" concert in Rangoon on December 16. The concert brought together several local singers such as Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein, R Zarni and others, as well as Thai rock band Slot Machine and U.S. singer-songwriter Jason Mraz to raise awareness for the fight against human trafficking. Ambassador Mitchell addressed the crowd and urged the audience to "be alert, be aware, be educated, and be engaged."

U.S. Embassy Grants Announcement
This announcement is to inform interested organizations about funding opportunities of grants up to $100,000. The U.S. Embassy seeks proposals from qualified organizations for sustainable projects that identify and respond to the needs of their communities, including enhancing opportunities for 1) advancing free and fair elections, 2) increasing capacity for advocacy, 3) building democratic capacity, 4) augmenting networks and 5) empowering women and girls. This initiative will channel through two funding programs: 1) the US Embassy Small Grants program and 2) the US Embassy Small Grants Program for Global Women’s Fund.
