A Message from Ambassador Gitenstein

The United States and Romania have been partners for over 130 years.  Since 1989, you have worked hard to build your democracy and create a more free, just and prosperous society.  Americans greatly respect your efforts and have been happy to assist.

Although some of our government programs ended when Romania joined the European Union, America remains deeply committed to strengthening and deepening our strategic partnership and our economic relationship.  American investment and people-to-people contacts between Romanians and Americans are equally important.  American humanitarian, civic and religious organizations work daily together with their Romanian partners.  Many of these activities and programs continue with little public notice or acknowledgment. I decided that I wanted a visual depiction of just how extensive and deep the Romanian-American relationship is.  I wanted to literally put our relationship on the map.  This brochure does that and also provides facts and figures documenting our ever-growing ties.  Americans are a caring and generous people, and Romanians are hard-working and savvy.
