Citizens of a foreign country who intend to live/reside permanently and work in the United States, need an immigrant visa to enter the United States.  Please see the categories of immigrant visas.

The Immigrant Visa Unit conducts immigrant visa interviews by appointment only.  Visa interviews for family, including K (fiancé) visas, and employment based visas are scheduled in a letter from National Visa Center (NVC).

Interviews for diversity visa applicants are scheduled in a letter from the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC).

Note that the appointment time for all immigrant visa interviews is between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.  Applicants who do not appear with the required documents and appropriate interview/issuance fee before 10 a.m. on the appointment day will be rescheduled to a later date. It is the applicant's responsibility to contact us, either by phone or email to reschedule the appointment.

Applicant who are approved for an immigrant visa will be given a date to collect the visa.   The time of collection is 4 p.m. on the given date.  Please remember to bring your receipts for all payments at pickup.

Submission of fake documents or misrepresentation of facts in any way could render you permanently ineligible for an immigrant visa to the United States of America.

Applicants should not purchase an airline ticket until they have the visa in hand.
