Education Advising

U.S. Embassy in Vientiane offers free and unbiased education advising services for students interested in pursuing educational opportunities in the United States. The Embassy’s Education Advising Service is located in the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the Public Diplomacy Section on Rue Bartholonie near That Dam.

The Embassy’s Education Advisor can help students utilize the IRC’s collection of educational advising materials, which includes brochures and promotional materials from a variety of U.S.-based institutions, as well as the latest books and CDs to help students prepare for entrance exams, such as TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT and others. The IRC also offers prospective students free Internet access in order to search for additional information on universities and colleges in the United States.

The Embassy’s Education Advisor can schedule one-on-one sessions to help students navigate the sometimes intimidating process of selecting and applying to schools in the United States. The Advisor also provides information on scholarships sponsored by the U.S. Government as well as scholarships and grants provided by other private foundations. Advising services are offered to groups or to individuals, in person, by email or by phone.

Advising services are occasionally offered at the American Corner, located at the Lao-American College, Vientiane Capital; and at the Lao-American Reading Corner, located at the Luangprabang Public Library, Luangprabang province.
