English Language Resource Center
 

The English Language Resource Center of the U.S. Embassy in Luanda was created to serve as a library where English teachers can research teaching methods and find new materials to use in their classrooms. The collection includes a wide variety of themes and topics, such as:

  • Didactic and authentic materials (such as magazines and newspapers from the U.S.)
  • Exercise and workbooks
  • Grammar guides
  • American literature and culture
  • American government, economy and history
  • American idioms
  • Listening, speaking, reading and writing
  • English for specific purposes (business, Internet, science, etc.)

Some examples of titles available for use in the English Language Resource Center are:

  • The US magazine Forum
  • New Way series
  • Up Close series
  • Becoming a Better Teacher
  • 50 Strategies for Teaching English Language Learners
  • Reference Guide to English

The Englsih Language Resource Center now offers a variety of materials for sale to English teachers in Angola. Titles available include:

  • Shaping the Way We Teach English
  • About the USA
  • Changing Perspectives (book and audiocassette)
  • Effective Techniques for English Conversation in Groups 
  • Talking English (book and audiocassete)

This Center also maintains a list of English teachers in Angola in order to inform them of events sponsored by the U.S. Embassy for teachers of English, including workshops and seminars. If you are interested in adding your name to this list, please contact us via email, indicating your name, institutional affiliation and address and other contact information, or visit the Center.

The English Language Resource Center is located in the Public Affairs Section and is open from Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Center is closed all official United States and Angolan holidays.
