Access is a two-year after-school English language proficiency program for talented 14-18 year-olds from underprivileged and economically-disadvantaged sectors. The U.S. Embassy hosts the world’s largest English Access program.

Here, a local farmer from Aarokas village tells Ambassador Hoagland, “We had barren lands for many years due to water scarcity, but through the watershed management project we were able to convert our barren land into flush green fields.”

After the earthquake, the U.S. government, via USAID, started to reconstruct 27 schools out of which 15 have been completed. The U.S. also built 21 schools in the Mansehra district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, which was also badly affected by the earthquake.

  45. Nasa's Curiosity rover has only been on the surface of Mars seven weeks but it has already turned up evidence of past flowing water on the planet. Scientists on the mission team say the size and rounded shape of the pebbles in the rock indicate they had been transported and eroded in water.
