BSAI Groundfish Fisheries Biological Assessment

In November 2010, the National Marine Fisheries Service released a final Biological Opinion on the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands groundfish fisheries.

2010 BSAI Groundfish Biological Opinion

In 2011 the States of Alaska and Washington commissioned a review of the BiOp.  The review was released in July 2011.  A public meeting is scheduled for August 22, 2011 in Anchorage to provide opportunity for the authors to receive feedback on the draft report.  The ADF&G and WDFW are accepting comments through September 1, 2011.

On July 6, 2011 the Council received a letter from James. W. Balsiger, Administrator, NOAA Alaska Region regarding a scientific review of the BiOp to be conducted by the Center for Independent Experts.  No date has yet been scheduled for this review.

The Archives page contains previous Biological Opinions, SSL research reports, Council actions and other documents.
