Resources for Families and Caregivers

There are a wide variety of resources available for Families and Caregivers of wounded, ill, and injured servicemembers. The online portals listed below provide access to broad lists of programs, resources, and benefits available to assist Families and Caregivers supporting Wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers (Soldiers).

Soldier and Family Assistance Center

Soldier Family Assistance Centers (SFACs) are located near most Warrior Transition Units (WTUs) to assist Soldiers and their Families. SFACs are comprehensive, centralized coordinating offices that provide a variety of services to assist Soldiers and their Families with administrative and personal needs during their stay at the WTU.

National Caregiver Support Line

The National Caregiver Support Line is open Monday – Friday, 8a.m. to 11p.m. and Saturday, 10:30a.m. to 6p.m. (EST). National Resource Directory

The National Resource Directory (NRD) External Link, Opens in New Window is a website for wounded, ill and injured servicemembers, Veterans, their Families and those who support them. The NRD provides access to services and resources at the national, state and local levels to support recovery, rehabilitation and community reintegration on topics such as benefits & compensation, education & training, employment, Family & Caregiver support, health, homeless assistance, housing, transportation & travel and other services & resources.

Community Support Network

The Community Support Network, an initiative of the Army Warrior Transition Command, connects wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers, Veterans, their Families, and Caregivers with local providers of services and is a valuable tool for AW2 Advocates to gain information about available organizations and activities.
