Core Administration
The Institute operates as a distinct administrative unit at the University of Chicago, reporting to the Dean of the Division of Biological Sciences (BSD) and has a distinct administrative unit at Argonne, reporting to the Associate Lab Director for the Computing, Environment, and Life Sciences Directorate, Dr. Rick Stevens. IGSB has an independent core administration and budget to manage its administrative functions.
Barry Aprison
Dr. Aprison is the IGSB Education & Outreach Director who develops and oversees academic programs on campus through the auspices of the Chicago Center for Systems Biology (CCSB) and the Ph.D program in Genetics, Genomics and Systems Biology (GGSB) at the University of Chicago. He is Senior Lecturer in the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division of the College.
Liza Herendeen
Liza Herendeen is the IGSB Business Administrator and is responsible for administrative functions in the IGSB. She also directly supports Kevin White and Andrey Rzhetsky.
Edward (Jay) Rehm
As IGSB Research Manager, Jay Rehm oversees a variety of scientific projects including the genome-wide mapping of human transcription factor binding sites under the auspices of the NIH ENCODE Project and its sister project, modENCODE, which focuses similar attention on the transcription factors of model organisms. Rehm coordinates numerous scientific collaborations between IGSB and other research groups, administers the Chicago Center for Systems Biology (CCSB), and manages the IGSB core facilities.
