Colonel Mark E. Polomsky is the Vice Commander, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia. The wing is the primary tactical airlift hub for re-supply missions supporting the Department of State mission in Iraq and providing combat service support to Land Component Forces throughout the Persian Gulf Region and Iraq. The 386th AEW is composed of approximately 1,800 active duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve Airmen. Approximately 200 of the wing's Airmen serve in the 387th Air Expeditionary Group, filling Joint Expeditionary Taskings that meet U.S. Army combat support and combat service support requirements at bases in Southwest Asia.

Colonel Polomsky graduated from Lee's Summit High School, Lee's Summit, Mo., in 1988. He received his commission in 1992 through the United States Air Force Academy. He attended pilot training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, in 1993. He has served in numerous operational capacities at the squadron, group and wing level. His staff assignments include Headquarters, Air Mobility Command, and the Joint Staff. He has commanded at the squadron level both in garrison and deployed, and his combat/contingency experience includes Operations Southern Watch, Constant Vigil, Joint Guard, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
