Jennifer A. McIntyre

Ms. Jennifer McIntyre is the Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai. She assumed duties as Consul General on August 3, 2011.

Ms. McIntyre’s prior foreign assignments include tours in Baku, Azerbaijan; Adana, Turkey; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Asmara, Eritrea; and Islamabad, Pakistan.

Ms. McIntyre’s Washington experience has included service in the State Department’s Operations Center; the Executive Offices for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Near Eastern Affairs and South and Central Asian Affairs, and in the Office for the Under Secretary for Management.

Ms. McIntyre earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies from the University of Virginia in 1991 and a Masters of National Security during a year’s study at the National War College in 2006. In 2005, she was awarded the State Department’s Leamon R. Hunt Award for Management Excellence.

Ms. McIntyre was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in the town of Havre de Grace in northern Maryland. She joined the U.S. Department of State in 1992 and became a career member of the Senior Foreign Service in 2009.
