Col. Mark S. Larson is commander of the 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. The Group reports to 4th Air Force, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., and is an Air Force Reserve KC-135 Stratotanker associate unit working alongside the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell AFB. In conjunction with the 22nd ARW, the 931st ARG supports Air Mobility Command's worldwide air refueling mission, meeting the air refueling needs of all U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine and selected allied nations' aircraft. In addition, they supplement AMC's strategic airlift capability. Furthermore, members of the 931st ARG are engaged in a cross section of combat support services for all U.S. military branches in times of peace, war and national emergency within the United States and abroad.

Col. Larson was commissioned in 1985 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program at Utah State University, Logan, Utah, in 1985. In fifteen years of active duty service, he performed in a number of capacities, including instructor pilot, flight commander, and aircraft commander in both the T-37 Tweet and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 2000 and has served as a KC-135 instructor pilot and evaluator and a C-17 Globemaster pilot.

Col. Larson has flown numerous combat and combat support sorties, ranging from Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM to Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM. He has served as commander of the 90th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, and prior to his current position, served as the deputy commander for the 452nd Operations Group, 452nd Air Mobility Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, March Air Reserve Base, Calif.
