1/18/2013 - DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The Dover Officers' Spouses' Club helps pay college tuition for eligible students within the Dover Air Force Base, Del. community. The DOSC donates profits from their annual arts and crafts show for academic and vocational programs.

"Last year, we awarded 20 scholarships totaling $22,500 from funds raised at our annual craft show, and we look forward to another successful program this year," said Dona Kauth, DOSC scholarship chairman.

There are two types of scholarships available for traditional and nontraditional students. Scholarship applications are available to dependent graduating high schools seniors and dependent spouses or children pursuing further education.

"As the spouse of an active-duty Airman stationed at Dover AFB, I was thrilled to hear of the DOSC's local scholarship program," said Jenna Mahoney, a 2012 DOSC scholarship recipient. "We came from an overseas base where there weren't as many opportunities ... it is certainly a big financial help to my husband and me."

The eligibility parameters of this scholarship range from dependents of deceased military members and retirees in the area, to dependents of active duty, reservists and U.S. government employees assigned to Dover AFB. The selection process stays within the Dover AFB community.

To receive an award, individuals must fill out an application, which includes an essay on the importance of continuing education to achieve life goals before March 15. The DOSC is seeking well-rounded individuals who have demonstrated scholastic achievements, community involvement and leadership capability.
