Appointments

VISA APPLICANTS ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO MAKE MULTIPLE APPOINTMENTS.  IF THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM DETECTS MULTIPLE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE SAME APPLICANT, ALL APPOINTMENTS WILL BE DELETED.

Please note: Applicants arriving at the Embassy entrance 30 minutes or more after their appointment time will not be admitted, and will have to make another appointment through our online system.

As of January 3, 2010, all applications for A, G and J visas must be submitted electronically using the online form DS-160. As of January 10, 2010, all applications for F and M visas must be submitted electronically using the same online form DS-160.  As of January 17, 2010, all Non-Immigrant Visa applications other than K visas must be submitted electronically using the online form DS-160.

Immigrant Visa applicants will be scheduled for an interview at the Embassy at the conclusion of the processing of their application and provided with instructions on scheduling a medical examination.

Successful Diversity Visa lottery applicants will receive their interview times via a letter from the Kentucky Consular Center.

If a visa is needed urgently (as in the case of a medical, academic or business emergency) a regular appointment must first be requested as explained in "How to Apply".  If several relatives are traveling because of the same emergency, a regular appointment must be requested for each member of the family.

IMPORTANT:  Even if the ONLY appointment available is past the date you intend to travel, make an appointment for that date and follow the instructions below.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU DESCRIBE IN DETAIL WHY YOU NEED THE APPOINTMENT, WHY IT IS AN EMERGENCY, AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO TRAVEL ON THE ANTCIPATED DATE.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO OR FAIL TO DESCRIBE WHY IT IS AN EMERGENCY,OR WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO TRAVEL ON THE ANTICIPATED DATE, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RESPOND TO OR APPROVE YOUR REQUEST. THESE REQUESTS ARE FOR EMERGENCY BUSINESS, MEDICAL, AND ACADEMIC TRIPS TO THE U.S. ONLY AND NOT FOR TOURIST TRAVELERS WHO HAVE FAILED TO PLAN AHEAD IN A TIMELY MANNER.

After making the appointment, please fill out the form found at the “Emergency Appointment” link below:

Remember that you need to make a regular appointment before requesting an emergency appointment.

We will respond to all emergency requests within 48 hours, not including weekends or days the Embassy is closed due to an American or Algerian holiday.   All genuine emergency appointments are granted an interview within two to three days, and, in all cases, in time for the traveler’s anticipated day of travel.
