Exit the airport by turning right and stay in the right-hand lane

Arrival

Transportation to the Professional Education Center (PEC) from the Little Rock National Airport is provided on Sundays and Mondays only for student in-processing. PEC Transportation departs the LR Airport at 1100, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100, 2200 and 2300 on in-processing days. Busses/vans departing to PEC leave from the covered island area adjacent to the baggage claim area. After 2300 you must use a commercial taxi. Approximate cost is $17.50 (save your receipt). Black & White Cab Company can be reached at 501-374-0333 and Capitol Cab Company can be reached at 501-568-0462.

Personnel requiring transportation to PEC who arrive at times when scheduled transportation is not available may use the courtesy phone. The courtesy phone is located in the main terminal building at the bottom of the escalator approaching the baggage claim area. The round trip time from PEC to LR National Airport is approximately one hour.

Spouses / Guests

Spouses / guests are not allowed to stay in PEC billeting. You may elect to stay off-post at your own expense.  You will not be reimbursed for staying off-post if rooms are available at PEC.  


Departure (Back to top)

To assist us with the speedy preparation for incoming classes, the checkout time is 1000 hours. Beds must be stripped and bedding/linen placed on top of the bed. Turn in all PEC property (Laptop computers, room keys, etc.) prior to out-processing and departing.

PEC does not offer full Postal Services; however, a Postal Service mailbox and stamp vending machine is located in the lobby of Independence Hall.


MESSAGES(Back to top)

The PEC registration desk can be reached by dialing 501-212-4700 (DSN 962). The registration desk will be able to locate and connect to those students and conference attendees staying on post. Many conferences held at PEC maintain a conference support center during conference hours where messages and faxes may be left for attendees. The Conference Support Center is staffed and maintained by the conference hosting agency and can be reached at extension 6777. Conference attendees should consult the conference MOI for more details on how they can be contacted during the conference.


Telephones (Back to top)

Room phones at PEC can be used to dial DSN, local or toll-free numbers. Not all rooms have telephones. There are also courtesy phones (DSN/COMM) located on the first and second floors of Militia Hall for outgoing calls only. Phones are for official use only and calls are limited to 15 minutes. DSN access is reached by dialing 8+number and commercial lines are accessed by dialing 9.

Students and conferees may use the fax machine located at the registration desk in Independence Hall for Official Use Only. The incoming fax number is 501-212-4679 (DSN prefix 962). Additionally, conferees may use the fax machine in the Conference Support Center (Militia Hall, Room 228). The incoming number to this machine is 501-212-6778 (DSN prefix 962).


Reproduction (Back to top)

Reproduction support is available to conferees through the conference POC. Most conferences arrange for use of the courtesy copy machine in Room 228. Please limit use to 25 copies. Larger reproduction projects need to be made through the conference POC.


Bumpers Library (Back to top)

The Bumpers Library's book collection consists of military and National Guard history, as well as other books covering a broad range of topics. The library's collection also includes a variety of videos, audio recordings and periodicals. A selection of military publications (ARs, NGRs, DA PAMs, etc) is maintained in the library for patron use. For other needs, the library offers a computer lab with Microsoft Office and Internet access, typewriters, research assistance, online card catalog, copier and microform readers. Examination proctoring is provided by the library by appointment only. Appointments should be made with the library director. The library is open Monday -Thursday 0730-2100, Friday 0730-1600, Saturday 0900-1300 and Sunday 1300-2100. 501-212-4721


Housekeeping (Back to top)

Staff housekeepers clean classrooms, administrative and support areas daily Sunday through Thursday. Dormitories are cleaned daily, Monday through Friday. Check out time is 1000 hours.

Individual rooms are vacuumed on a daily basis. Linens are exchanged every Friday or upon checkout. Bath towels, hand towels and washcloths and a bath mat are provided daily Monday through Thursday. On Friday three bath towels, hand towels and washcloths and bath mat are provided for the weekend. On weekends, trash is removed from common use areas only. Occupants should strip their bed Friday morning if they want clean linens.

Male and female housekeepers work in dormitory areas. Please dress appropriately when outside your room. Since our job is to serve you, please bring any of your concerns to our Military Housing Managers at either extension 4783 or 4760, or notify the registration desk personnel at extension 4700.


Dining Facility (Back to top)

Orders published for all personnel performing temporary duty at PEC, except for enlisted soldiers in SIK status, will reflect PEC, Camp Robinson, NLR , AR as the temporary duty station.

Orders for personnel performing temporary duty in SIK status will reflect PEC, Camp Robinson, NLR , AR as the TDY station and contain the following statement at additional instructions:

Soldier is subsisted in kind in an IDT status/performing unit annual training. No charges will be made for meals during this period of duty.

All conferees and workshop attendees performing temporary duty and not in SIK status at PEC will pay for meals consumed at the dining facility and will be reimbursed a maximum of $51 per day for meals and $3 a day for incidental expenses, regardless of meal consumption.

Bathing suits, fishnet type shirts, excessively abbreviated or revealing clothing, short-shorts, unhemmed cutoffs, midriff tops, halters/tube tops, sleeveless garments (like sweatshirts, athletic jersey shirts, and tank tops), shower shoes, undershirts or other clothing intended for wear as under garments will not be worn in the dining facility. Spandex type pants or shorts must be worn under loose fitting shorts such as the PT uniform. Clean and dry PT uniforms are acceptable in the dining facility.


Fitness Center (Back to top)

Conferees must provide proper ID to use the facility/equipment and sign in at Freedom Hall (Bldg. 6404). Appropriate clothing (warm up suit, gym shoes, etc.) is required. The Freedom Hall staff (ext. 4661) reserve picnic areas and control all intramural sports. Golf clubs, bicycles and reflective vests are available at Freedom Hall. Freedom Hall is open MON-FRI 0530-2000, SAT 1100-1800 and SUN 1200-1800.

Numerous jogging routes are available, ranging from 2 miles to 10k. For your safety, jogging or running with headphones is prohibited.


Canteen/PX (Back to top)

The Canteen/PX in located in the MWR Complex (Bldg. 5305 - NON AFFES), located across street from old canteen, within walking distance from all billets. The Canteen has small convenience items such as food, toiletries, gift items and some issue items. The Canteen/PX is open Monday-Friday 0900-1900, Saturday 0900-1800, and Sunday 1000-1700. The Canteen/PX phone number is 501-753-9017.


Bank (Back to top)

The Arkansas Federal Credit Union is located in the MWR Complex (Bldg. 5305). The bank is open Monday-Friday 900-1700 An ATM is available 24 hours a day, and is available for use by non-members. Check cashing services are available for members only.

Personal checks may be cashed at Little Rock Air Force Base (LRAFB) BX ($150.00 maximum per day). LRAFB is approximately 12-15 miles from PEC.


Barber Shop (Back to top)

Camp Robinson Canteen Barber Shop is located in the MWR Complex (Bldg 5305) and is open Monday-Friday 0900-1800 and Saturday 0700-1600 and is closed on Sundays.


Rock Restaurant, Rock Lounge and Minuteman Pizzaria (Back to top)

The Rock Restaurant, Lounge & Minuteman Pizzaria, operated by MWR, are located in the MWR Complex (Bldg 5305). There is no cover charge.

The restaurant does accept credit cards. The restaurant is open Monday-Friday 1000-1330, closed Saturday & Sunday. The phone number is 501-758-8468.

The lounge is open Monday-Saturday 1530-2245, and Sunday 1500-2145. The lounge doesn't accept credit cards. PEC Students and conferees are discouraged from frequenting the Rock Lounge in uniform after 1800. The phone number is 501-758-5076.

The Minuteman Pizzaria is open 7-days a week from 1100-2030. The pizzaria does accept credit cards. Call ins are welcome for pick up only. The pizzaria is for dine in or carry out only, no delivery. The phone number is 501-771-1453.

The Minuteman Pizzaria is open for Breakfast (0630-0930).

NOTE: The support facilities, to include the credit union, barber shop, canteen/PX, the Rock Restaurant, Rock lounge, and pizzaria are operated by MWR or are contracted through the State of Arkansas. PEC has no control over the operations of these facilities; however, our students and conferees are authorized to use them at their leisure.

There are many fine dining establishments of all types of cuisine in the Little Rock/North Little Rock areas. A restaurant guide is available at the registration desk.


Chapel Services (Back to top)

The Camp Robinson Chapel is located on Missouri Avenue across the street from PEC. Inter-denominational services are at 1000 every Sunday.


Rental Cars (Back to top)

Rental cars are available through the MWR located at the Canteen. The phone number is 501-945-5667.


Little Rock Air Force Base (Back to top)


LRAFB Information: 501-988-3131

The installation is located approximately 12-15 miles northeast of Camp Robinson and offers a full range of exchange services. Check with the transportation section at the registration desk in Independence Hall to schedule transportation (24-hour notice required).
Air Force items and some Army items can be purchased at Clothing Sales (Open Monday through Friday). MasterCard and Visa accepted for all purchases. Proper ID is required.


Medical Care (Back to top)

The Troop Medical Clinic (TMC) can provide medical care to all AGR and Traditional Guardsman (not in technician status). Technicians will receive medical care at a local medical facility in North Little Rock. Report to Registration prior to reporting for sick call. Sick Call hours are from 0700-0800, Monday through Friday in building 6500. Soldiers must have an Individual Sick Slip (DD 689) and military ID card in order to be seen at the TMC. Soldiers can get DD689 from either the training center NCOIC or class leader.

The TMC is open from 0700-1530, Monday-Friday. Appointments can be made by calling (501) 212-5262 from 0900-1430 on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and from 0900-1030 on Thursday. Emergency treatment will be provided when the clinic is open. After hour care will be arranged by Registration/Staff Duty personnel.


Fire (Back to top)

Fire extinguishers, fire alarms and instructions for emergency procedures are located in all buildings. The phone number for the Post Station is 212-5280/5282.


Smoking (Back to top)

Smoking is prohibited inside all buildings. Every building has a designated exterior smoking area.


Quiet Hours (Back to top)

PEC students and conferees are reminded of the PEC “Quiet” hours from 2200-0500. Noise disturbances or other violations of quiet hours by individuals, approved parties with or without alcoholic beverage consumption, and unauthorized groups will be reported to Staff Duty personnel and Camp Robinson Police as required. A violation of quiet hours may result in dismissal or release from a PEC course or conference.


Weapons (Back to top)

Firearms are not permitted at PEC. The Commandant must approve any exception to this policy.


Drugs and Alcohol (Back to top)

Local law enforcement agencies are alert for drunken drivers. A DWI can cost you your driver’s license for six months (resident or nonresident). Failure to submit to a Breathalyzer test can result in two charges: (1) a DWI, and (2) refusing to take a Breathalyzer test. Penalties for possession, sale, and/or use of illicit drugs are very severe in Arkansas.

PEC POLICY- The consumption of alcohol in any form is strongly discouraged. Alcohol MAY NOT be consumed in the following areas: Registration, to include the outside break area, any parking lot, and any billeting hallway. “Beer busts” are prohibited. Alcohol MAY be consumed in moderation in the following areas: inside billets provided no more than 3 people are in the room, in break areas, and in the designated picnic areas. PEC students and conferees involved in an alcohol related disturbance at PEC, and any alcohol related incidents with any law enforcement agency on or off post (arrest or issuance of a citation), will be released or dismissed from the course or conference and returned to his/her state.


Severe Weather (Back to top)

Local TV stations, www.katv.com (ABC) www.todaysthv.com (CBS) arkansasmatters.com (NBC), maintain severe weather watches and transmit warning symbols on the lower left of the screen. The PEC maintains a weather-alert radio. Camp Robinson fire/security station monitors severe weather bulletins. Camp Robinson is in Pulaski County near the center of Arkansas.
