New Online Appointment System for American Citizens Services (ACS) ( November 4, 2011)

Message to U.S. Citizens – November 4, 2011 - New Online Appointment System for American Citizens Services (ACS)

 1.  U.S. Embassy Niamey informs U.S. citizens living in Niger that, starting Monday November 7, 2011, it is initiating an online appointment system to handle requests for routine passport, reports of birth, and notarial services.  You can make an appointment on the Embassy Website at: http://niamey.usembassy.gov/service.html by selecting the “Schedule a U.S. Citizen Services Appointment” link.  The appointment system is for routine services, and the website provides information to ensure you arrive with the necessary documents.  Please have your passport number handy when making the on-line appointment.

 2.  No appointment is necessary for emergency services such as deaths, arrests or other urgent matters.  Please call the Duty Officer at the Embassy number in paragraph 4 for emergency assistance 24-hours a day.

 3.  U.S. citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP - https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/).  U.S. citizens without internet access may enroll directly at the nearest U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate.  By enrolling, U.S. citizens make it easier for the embassy to contact them in case of emergency.

 4. The U.S. Embassy in Niamey is located on Rue des Ambassades.  The Embassy’s telephone number is (227) 20-72-26-61 (24-hours).  After-hours, you can also contact the Embassy for emergencies at telephone: (227) 20-72-31-41.  Follow this link to visit the Embassy website: http://niamey.usembassy.gov/
