Exchange Programs

The Public Affairs Section seeks to promote bilateral understanding through a wide-ranging program of U.S. funded academic and professional exchanges for students, teachers, university lecturers and younger professionals in a variety of fields.

Academic Exchanges

The U.S. Department of State, through the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv and our partner organizations in Ukraine, offers academic exchange programs for students, teachers, professors, and researchers in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.  Participation in these exchange programs is determined on the basis of a free and open competition for qualified, English-speaking applicants. Application deadlines and requirements vary by program.  For a complete list of all U.S. Government sponsored academic exchange programs offered in Ukraine please click here.  A one page, printable synopsis of our academic exchange programs is also available here.  Additional information and guidance is available through our Education Information and Advising Centers. You can find their contact information at: www.educationusa.info/Ukraine  and www.americancouncils.org.ua/en/.

Professional Exchanges

The U.S. Government supports a number of professional exchange programs that allow mid-career Ukrainian professionals to travel to the United States on short-term programs ranging from 10 days to five weeks in length.  The time spent in the United States allows participants to conduct consultations with American counterparts and form ties with U.S. organizations.  The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv administers these programs directly and through our partner organizations in Ukraine.  Click here for a detailed list of all professional exchange programs.

Alumni Resources and Programs

The U.S. Embassy offers a range of resources and programs to help alumni of U.S. Government-funded exchange programs make the most of their exchange experience after returning to Ukraine and help them stay connected to fellow alumni.  The Department of State’s Alumni Website offers all alumni a way to stay in touch with the global alumni community and free access to media databases like ProQuest.  In Kyiv, the Alumni Resource Center coordinates activities for alumni throughout the year.  The U.S. Embassy also periodically offers grants to support alumni-generated activities and initiatives.  Click here for a complete list of alumni opportunities.
