Celebrating Black History Month At Rosa Parks School Herten
Consul General Hubler spoke to nearly 300 students and teachers at the Rosa Parks school in Herten as part of the school’s commemoration of Rosa Parks’ 100th birthday on February 4. In his keynote remarks, the CG highlighted Rosa Parks’ and Martin Luther King’s contributions to the civil rights movement in the U.S.

Deputy Chief of Mission at the Sweets Fair in Cologne
On January 27, Deputy Chief of Mission Jim Melville paid a visit to the world’s biggest confectionery trade fair (ISM) in Cologne. Accompanied by Consul General Steve Hubler and Commercial Consul Lora Baker he met with U.S. exhibitors who presented a great variety of American candy at the fair.

Deputy Chief of the U.S. Mission Visits Landtag
The visit of Deputy Chief of Mission Jim Melville in North Rhine-Westfalia was highlighted by a meeting at the NRW Landtag on January 28. The President of the Landtag, Carina Gödecke, welcomed the guest from Berlin who also had a chance to meet members of the NRW-U.S. parliamentary group.

Consul General Hubler hosted an Inauguration Day reception on Jan. 21. Representing a cross-section of the Consulate’s contacts, the guests listened to President Obama’s second inaugural address and discussed the next four years of the Administration and the future of transatlantic ties.
