C. Patricia (Pat) Alsup is the Deputy Chief of Mission in Accra, Ghana. Prior to her arrival in Ghana, she was Director of the State Department Africa Bureau's Office of Central African Affairs. Pat joined the Foreign Service in 1992 after a many years in the private sector in market research, strategic planning and economic development. As a Foreign Service Officer, she previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in The Gambia (2005-2007) and Executive Assistant in the Economic Bureau (2004-2005) and earned a Masters degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 2008. Pat also served tours as Special Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs, and Desk Officer in the Office of Caribbean Affairs, and Career Development Officer in the Office of Career Development and Assignments. Her other overseas assignments were in Santo Domingo, where she was a Consular Officer, and Mexico City, where she was detailed to Treasury as Assistant Financial Attaché. She has a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College and an MBA in Marketing from Harvard Business School.
