Landmark U.S.-Funded Bicommunal Project Receives Europa Nostra 2011 Award
At the European Heritage Congress in Amsterdam in June 2011, European Commissioner for Education and Culture Androulla Vassiliou and Europa Nostra President Plácido Domingo presented the Europa Nostra Award for Research to the bicommunal Nicosia Master Plan team for its interdisciplinary study of the architectural heritage of the Buffer Zone in the walled city of divided Nicosia, Cyprus. Standing Room Only at ‘Sharing an Island’ Film Debuts
Audiences packed theatres in Limassol and Nicosia for the debut screenings of a new documentary film by young producer/director Danae Stylianou. Appropriately entitled "Sharing an Island", the film captures the experience of three Greek Cypriots and three Turkish Cypriots who meet for the first time, having agreed to share a house for five days.
