Smart Traveler Enrollment Program

Enrollment at the U.S. Embassy makes your presence and whereabouts known, in case it is necessary for a consular officer to contact you in an emergency. This Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country.

Enrollment allows you to record information about your upcoming trip abroad so that Department of State can better asssit you in an emergency.

Registration In Brunei

If you're going to be in Brunei for any extended period of time, please register with us. Registration is to your advantage in that it will enable us to locate you in case of an emergency, and helps keep us better informed of the number and location of U.S. citizens in the event of a large-scale emergency. We are required by law to keep any information you give us completely confidential, and will release it only when authorized by you to do so.

Please notice that the registration form includes the Privacy Act Statement and Authorization for Release of Information Under the Privacy Act.

You must bring a valid U.S. passport or other evidence of U.S. citizenship when you register. You may download and complete the U.S. Citizens Registration Form (PDF 1256K) or pick up a copy at the Embassy and register when you stop by.
