Welcome to the student Transportation Department
We are dedicated to providing you with safe school bus transportation services that is on time and comfortable. Our highly trained and capable transportation specialists assist in overseeing the entire Okinawa District Student Transportation operation. The following is a summary of what we do for our customers.
School Bus Operations here on Okinawa consists of:
Drivers - 75 local national drivers employed on contract with Senon, Inc.
Security - 75 local national /US security attendants on our contract with G4S ltd.
Buses - 62 buses with a capacity of 53 passengers each
Total seating capacity: 3286 passengers
Bus routes - 75
Bus Stops – 260
Special Needs Transportation here on Okinawa consists of:
Buses - 13 micro buses with a seating capacity of 18 passengers each
Total seating capacity: 234 passengers including wheelchairs.
Drivers - Local national MLC employed by 18 LRS on Kadena AB
Security - 13 local national /US security attendants provided by G4S ltd.
Bus routes - 11 bus routes
Bus stops - Curb to curb service for certain students with disabilities.
Summary
As you can see managing an operation this size; dispatching, driving, and providing security for our school bus transportation, we really do have our work cut out for us each and every school day. This is by far the largest single school bus office in DoDEA and we are the flagship STO.

About Us
As transportation professionals we work hard to get all parties to work as a team to keep students safe. Parents, school faculty and staff, and our team must continually work together in partnership to achieve this goal. We strive to maintain this balance. We are dedicated to getting this done every school day.
We are here to ensure that all of our students get to and from school in the safest manner possible. We take great pride in performing our duties each and every school day. It takes a lot of coordination to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
First of all, our students are individuals. When they take their first steps to the time they leave home, they relish each new benchmark on their path to independence. Riding the bus to school is one such milestone in a child’s life. Little kids eagerly wait until it’s time when they are old enough to take the bus.
Then as they get bigger kids welcome the days when they are old enough to get to school without mom or dad, or the bus. In those years in between, using the school bus can seem like a routine, sometimes an invisibly predictable occurrence, when in truth, it’s the result of a delicate balancing act.
Our Customers
We know all too well the uncertainty and challenges that sometime come with having to live in a strange and foreign land. As transportation providers with military backgrounds we understand what it is like to PCS. We have set our commitment to be efficient as possible with our customer’s time and that begins the moment you pick up the phone or send us an email message asking for our services. You can be assured that we will make your experience with us as stress-free as possible. We are here for you while you are in Okinawa.
We have more student bus riders than other district and more buses than any other single provider in the pacific, and we know that no two school districts are alike. You will receive the very best service that we are able to provide. We take the time and do the legwork to find the solution that will best meet your child’s transportation needs.
The bottom line is simple; we serve the best military in the world with the best student transportation services in the world for the best DoD dependents in the world. Believe it!
Safety
Safety is paramount in any transportation operation; it is of utmost importance in our case as we need to ensure that our students make it to school and home again in a safe manner. We will endeavor to take every precaution to make sure that our buses are safe, that our bus stops are safe, that our drivers and security attendants are fully trained and up to the task. And to ensure that our procedures are in place to allow no chance for mistake in smoothly performing our mission each and every school day. We must be very careful; after all, it is our future that we are transporting.
