Marvelous uses adornment – cowrie shells, bone, wood beads, brass and embroidery to transform everyday items into art objects. The main local customers include middle and upper income Tanzanians, tourists and diplomats. Marvelous worked with an American product design specialist for two years allowing further development and adaptation of products more suited to American tastes and preferences.
This company began exporting in 2002 and now sells to wholesale and retail customers in the U.S., Italy, Germany and Australia. The company also has a thriving local interior design business and its high quality home décor products are seen in some of Tanzania’s most exclusive international hotels.
