You may contact the Consular Section by e-mail or telephone Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, except Latvian and U.S. public holidays,  if you do not find information you require on this website.

Information inquiries in person, assistance in adoption related matters, notary service are available only by appointments Monday through Friday 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, except Latvian and U.S. public holidays.

Visa interviews (by appointments only):

Because our waiting room is small, we only allow applicants themselves to enter the area. In exceptional circumstances, a family member, an accompanying person for a disabled applicant, or an attorney may be allowed in the Consular Section if a prior permission from the Consular Section is received. Persons accompanying visa applicants to the embassy should bring their passports or other proof of identity.

Location Information

The U.S. Embassy is located across from the shopping mall SPICE between Kalnciema and Lielirbes street. Entrance to the Consular Section is on S.Velsa (formerly Remtes) street.

Customers choosing to drive to the embassy should note that there is NO designated parking available for the Consular Section visitors.

City buses Nr. 53, 22, 32, and 43, as well as minibuses Nr. 236 and 242 have stops within a walking distance from the embassy.

Notice for Visitors to the Consular Section

For security reasons, no laptops, mobile phones, video or photo cameras are allowed in the Embassy's Consular Section. Visitors are reminded to leave their cellular phones with the security guards during the time of their admission to the Consular Section.
