Consulate General of the United States Jerusalem

America House, established in June 2010, is the U.S. Consulate General’s cultural center in East Jerusalem.

The mission of America House is to encourage dialogue between Americans and Jerusalemites in order to foster mutual understanding and emphasize shared values. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State through the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, America House is a place where residents of Jerusalem can learn about U.S. history, culture, and society, through a wide selection of books, English language learning material and American magazines.  It also serves as a place where people can come together and play board games in the garden, view an art show, or just chill out.  In addition to the library, America House offers a wide variety of presentations about U.S. society and culture throughout the year.  Recent topics have included the U.S. space program, ways to help the environment, and U.S. foreign policy.  America House hosts regular film screenings and has established an English conversation night where people come together to practice their English in a relaxed setting.

EducationUSA Center

America House should be your first stop if you are thinking about studying in the United States. Come to the library and use our reference material to learn more about educational programs available in the U.S, the acceptance/application process, and how to obtain financial assistance. In addition, we will host periodic sessions, both via video conference and with EducationUSA educational advisors on how to apply, and enroll in a U.S. institute of higher learning.
