What Type of Visa Do You Need?

The type of visa you must obtain depends on the purpose of your travel to the U.S. There are two main categories of U.S. visas:

• Immigrant Visas - required by anyone seeking to take up indefinite or permanent residence in the United States.
• Non-Immigrant Visas - for international travelers coming to the Unites States temporarily for a wide variety of reasons, including tourism, study, business, medical treatment and certain types of temporary work. Some citizens of foreign countries are able to visit the U.S without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program. Guyana is not a member country of the Visa Waiver Program; therefore, a Guyanese national must apply for a visa to travel to the U.S.
