The fields of Science, Technology, Economics and Humanities are crucial to promote the development of society. In this light, the Embassy of the USA in Portugal, in partnership with the Superior Technical Institute and the following American Corners, has decided to launch the “American Corners Prize in Science, Technology, Economics and Humanities”.

American Corners (ACs):

• Universidade dos Açores

In short, the project will be developed according to the following guidelines:

1. Candidates submit a video of up to8 minutes to YouTube. The video should present an idea/project in the fields of Science, Technology, Economics or Humanities s. The video should showcase an innovative idea/project that deserves to be heard and amplified to improve today’s society. After submitting the video, candidates will send an email with their personal information and the link to the video to the specific email address for the corner at their host institution.
2. According to the criteria established in the rules for the project, the jury (jury 1) defined by the organization for each American Corner will choose the two best ideas/projects from each institution. The fourteen participants (two from each institution, from a total of seven institutions) will participate in a final event taking place at IST in June 2013.
3. After the 14 finalists (two from each institution) are chosen, the jury (jury 2) defined by the organization, will choose the two winners. The two winners will receive the prizes established in the project rules.

Deadline: Contestants may submit their applications/upload their videos from January 3 to February 20.
