Ambassador Martinez at the Eisenhower Women Fellows’ Seminar in Argentina

Ambassador Martínez provided welcome remarks to inaugurate the “Women and Leadership – Challenges for the 21st Century” seminar organized by the Eisenhower Fellowship Argentine chapter and the ICANA bi-national center.

The event took place at ICANA on November 7, 2012, and was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Eisenhower Fellowship.  Around two hundred women from the public and private sectors around Argentina and Latin America, along with many Eisenhower Fellows, attended the event.  The two main segments of the seminar dealt with women’s challenges in Latin American politics, and women’s participation and democracy building in Latin America.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Martínez, shared her personal experiences regarding women’s leadership and offered her views on the importance of female participation to sustain and build democracies in the Americas.  The audience and panelists included female political and civil society leaders from Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico and Spain.
