    Unsung Heroes honoured during “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” campaign

    Marking the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign” Masimanyane Women’s Support Centre, along with support from the U.S. Embassy, hosted a gala award ceremony in East London on December 6, 2012 to honour unsung heroes from far flung Eastern Cape communities such as Peddie, Cathcart, Zwelitsha, Mthatha, and Keiskammahoek.

    Western Cape organizations receive PEPFAR support for HIV/AIDS programs

    These dedicated community-based organizations implement programs that provide care for those afflicted with HIV, AIDS and TB, or protect orphans and other children made vulnerable when primary care providers fall ill.

    IRC Rocks the Vote with Youth on U.S. and S.A. Elections

    Vice Consul Forrest Graham and Information Resource Center Director Susan Dymond facilitated two workshops with eighty Grade 8 – Grade 11 learners from Students for a Better Future (SBF) Foundation. The topic up for discussion was “Youth Votes! 2012 Elections in the U.S. and S.A.: What’s at Stake?”

    Highway Africa is a partnership between Rhodes University’s School of Journalism and Media Studies and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). With the support of numerous governmental and private sponsors, Highway Africa has been during its 16 years at the forefront of Africa’s debates on journalism and new media.

    August 14, 2012 - The U.S. Consulate in Cape Town hosted more than 70 members of the inter-faith community at the U.S. Consulate for an Iftaar dinner on Tuesday, August 14. The well-attended event brought together key leaders of the Muslim community in Cape Town, as well as representatives from various inter-faith organizations for an evening filled with dialogue and active engagement.

    August 8, 2012 - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued her multi-country Africa tour with a stop in Cape Town, South Africa. The Secretary began her day with a stop at the Delft South Clinic followed by a public address at the University of the Western Cape.

  • Secretary Clinton with Mandela U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued her multi-country Africa tour with a stop in Cape Town, South Africa on August 8, 2012.  Days prior, on August 6, Secretary Clinton paid a special visit to former South African President Nelson Mandela.  Read more about her trip to South Africa here
