EMERGENCY SERVICES

Emergency Services for American Citizen in Botswana

The Consular Section makes every effort to assist American citizens in emergency situations. These may include the death, arrest, assault, or hospitalization of an American citizen in Botswana.

In the case of emergencies, you may call or stop by the embassy anytime during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 08:00 until 17:00. Please inform the guards at security that you require emergency consular services. Please remember that routine consular services are ONLY offered during posted business hours.

If you require immediate assistance after hours or on weekends, you may contact the Marine Security Guard at +267-395-3982 who will put you in contact with the embassy duty officer. This line is only for use by American citizens and should only be used in a true emergency.

Additionally, if the U.S. Embassy becomes aware of any information vital to the safety and wellbeing of American citizens, the Consular Section will send a Warden message to all American citizens registered with the Embassy. If you have not already registered online with the embassy, we encourage you to do so with the new Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). It only takes a few minutes to create an account which can be updated whenever and wherever you travel.

The Embassy regularly compiles lists of attorney and medical doctors who have expressed a willingness to provide services for American citizens living in or visiting Botswana.

Please note that the Embassy assumes no responsibility for the professional ability or integrity of the persons or firms whose names appear on these lists. The names are arranged in alphabetically; the order in which they appear has no other significance.
