FY 2012 NOAA Preserve America Initiative Internal Funding Program - Funded Projects

The NOAA Preserve America Initiative Internal Funding Program (PAIIF) is pleased to announce the 2012 PAIIF recipients. Of the 72 pre-proposals received, 40 advanced to the full-proposal stage. Proposals represented current and emerging issues that face the nation and our agency: sustainable economies, climate change and adaptation, cultural engagement and historical ecology. All of the proposals submitted demonstrate how the concept of using heritage to communicate NOAA’s messages and contemporary issues those are of relevance to the American public whom we serve. It is also inspiring to see that collaboration across NOAA and NOAA's partners continues to grow.

Each project demonstrates how the concept of using heritage to communicate NOAA’s messages and contemporary issues those are of relevance to the American public that we serve. The projects selected this year represent great diversity in scope, geography, and preservation. The projects include:
