18th Wing Public Affairs

2/8/2013 - KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Each year, America honors the contributions of African Americans to the nation during the month of February.

The 18th Wing has several events planned to celebrate February as African American History Month.

A three-on-three basketball tournament and dunk contest begins at 9 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Risner Fitness Center.

A health fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Kadena Exchange.

The second-annual Edna G. Lewis Soul Food Top Chef cook-off is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Schilling Community Center.

A Celebration of Gospel Music is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at Kadena Chapel Three.

Kadena members are welcome to attend any of these events to help the wing recognize and remember African American History Month.
