Earth Science Educational Products

JPL offers many products and programs that are valuable resources for teaching and learning about Earth and Earth resources. A list of these products can be found in the Earth Science Educational and Informational Products list (this list is in Adobe Acrobat format).

Resources for Elementary and Middle-School Children.

JPL's Space Place Web Site is geared towards 8 to 10-year-olds and has several ideas for activities:

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has a web site just for kids. Check out NGA Children's Site.

Visit the United Stated Geological Survey's Learning Web for Working with Maps. Learn about visualizing objects from different perspectives and how to understand and use maps.

Learn About Radar

Visit the SIR-C Virtual Classroom for information about the Shuttle Imaging Radar-C (SIR-C), a radar that flew onboard the space shuttle to gather information about Earth's environment. The site includes information on how to get CD-ROMs, slide sets, and videos of SIR-C imagery.

Webcasts featuring SRTM Team Members

SRTM team members from engineering and science took part in three question and answer session in webcasts that took place before, during, and after the 11-day shuttle mission. SRTM astronaut Janice Voss was on hand to participate in the post-flight web cast. Go to NASA Quest to view the webcasts.
