As a Commerce employee, your performance at work is measured and rewarded through a performance management system. Most employees are covered under one of two types of systems: 5-Level or the Commerce Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). The system you are covered by depends on where you work. (Note: NIST and PTO administer their own performance management systems. These systems are not covered here.)
Both systems have similar features, with a few notable differences. The resources below will give information on both 5-Level and CAPS, including an overview of the performance management planning process, performance plan content, and awards available under each system.
