Frequently Asked Questions About Casework

Why do I have to fill out a privacy release form?

Yes.  Before I can assist you, I need a completed privacy authorization form to comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act.  Please download and complete the privacy release form and then fax or mail to the address listed under the agency from which you are seeking assistance.

While email has become an effective way to communicate, the Privacy Act of 1974 requires that I have your written permission to make an inquiry on your behalf.  Be sure to include all of your pertinent contact information so my staff and I may respond to you.

To find where to send your completed privacy release form, please select the appropriate agency you are seeking assistance with from the following list.

Please not that although a friend or family member may contact me on behalf of someone else, the privacy release form must be signed by the individual needing assistance.

I am not a resident of Arkansas. Can you still help me with my problem?

It is a long-standing tradition of congressional courtesy in the United States Senate that each Senator be given the opportunity to serve his or her own constituents.  Therefore, if you are not an Arkansas resident, your request will be forwarded to a Senator in your state of residence.  You may find who represents your state at www.senate.gov.

Can you help even if my case involves litigation?

My office is unable to assist Arkansans with pending court actions.  The Senate Select Committee on Ethics advises all Senators to refrain from intervening in pending legal actions.

What if my issue involves a state agency?

As a federal legislator, I cannot help resolve problems with Arkansas state agencies.  If your difficulty is with a state or local entity, please contact your elected state and local representatives.  To locate your state representative, please visit: http://www.arkansashouse.org/about-the-house/district-map. To search for your state senator, please visit: http://www.state.ar.us/senate/senatorSearch.html.
