U.S. Government Resources

  • Department of Commerce: Provides information on U.S. international trade and a wide range of economic indicators.  Its main mission is to make American businesses more innovative at home and more competitive abroad.
  • Export.gov: Brings together resources from across the U.S. Government to assist American businesses in planning their international sales strategies and succeed in today’s global marketplace.  Export.gov also hosts information on the National Export Initiative.
  • Export Import Bank of the United States:  The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im    Bank) is the official export credit agency of the United States. Ex-Im Bank's mission is to assist in financing the export of U.S. goods and services to international markets.
  • National IPR Center: The National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center) stands at the forefront of the U.S. government’s response to global intellectual property (IP) theft.
  • Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR): The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is responsible for developing and coordinating U.S. international trade, commodity, and direct investment policy, and overseeing negotiations with other countries.  Provides information on trade topics, including Trade Agreements between the U.S. and other countries.
  •  Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC): The Overseas Private Investment Corporation OPIC is the U.S. Government’s development finance institution.  It mobilizes private capital to help solve critical world challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy.  OPIC services are available for new and expanding business enterprises in more than 150 countries worldwide.
  • The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA): The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides support to U.S. small businesses and small –business owners across the nation through capital (loans), access to federal contracts, and counseling.
  • U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA): The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is an independent U.S. Government foreign assistance agency.  Its main mission is to help companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies.  USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project planning activities, pilot projects, and reverse trade missions.
  • U.S. International Trade Commission: The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) is an independent government agency which administers trade remedy laws and provides information and support on matters relating to tariffs, international trade and competitiveness.
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection: The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security which is responsible for securing and facilitating trade and travel while enforcing U.S. regulations related to immigration and drug laws.
  • U.S. Commercial Service : The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce which helps U.S. companies find new business partners in international markets.  
  • The Advocacy Center : The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Advocacy Center helps to ensure that sales of U.S. products and services have the best possible chance competing abroad.  Its main mission is to coordinate U.S. Government resources and authority in order to level the playing field on behalf of U.S. business interests as they compete against foreign firms for specific international contracts or other U.S. export opportunities.

  • AmChams: American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) advance the interests of American business overseas.  They are voluntary associations of American companies and individuals doing business in a particular country, as well as firms and individuals of that country who operate in the U.S.  Currently, 115 AmChams in 102 countries are affiliated with U.S. AmCham.  The link to AMCHAM Mauritius is http://www.americanchamber-mauritius.org/.
  • The Mauritius-U.S. Business Association (MUSBA) : MUSBA is a non-profit trade organization linking the private sectors of Mauritius and the United States.  All of the leading apparel manufacturers in Mauritius are members of this association. 
  • Board of Investment :  The Board of Investment is the national investment promotion agency of Mauritius.  It is the first point of contact for investors seeking to do business in Mauritius.
  • Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry: The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a non-profit business organization which represents the private sector in Mauritius.  It provides information on a wide range of trade-related topics, including local trade legislation, trade statistics and doing business in Mauritius.
  • Mauritius Bankers Association (MBA): The Mauritius Bankers Association is a non-profit organization which regroups all banks licensed and authorized to conduct banking business in Mauritius.
  • Government of Mauritius Portal: Provides links to all Government of Mauritius’ Ministries, Departments and agencies.
  • Bank of Mauritius: The Bank of Mauritius is the central bank of Mauritius.  One of its main functions is to safeguard and strengthen the financial system of Mauritius. 
  • Statistics Mauritius: Statistics Mauritius is a government organization which is responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of official statistical data relating to the economic and social activities of Mauritius.
