Please, verify that all correspondence from the U.S. Department of State comes from addresses whose domains end in “@state.gov”. Furthermore, every email received from the U.S. Government will come from domains ending in “.gov”. We are aware of fake emails pretending to be from the U.S. Department of State. These emails have their origin in non-governmental domains such as “@yahoo.com”, “@hotmail.com”, or “@gmail.com”. If you think you have received an email with fraudulent information or you have any information you think might help us prevent fraud, please contact madrid_stopfraud@state.gov.
