Military Working Dog Jessey/L063
The distinguished career of Jessey, a military working dog with 5th Security Forces Squadron, came to a close after six years of dedicated and honorable service to the Air Force. Jessey served Minot Air Force Base, N.D., for five years and was attached to only three handlers. In June, Jessey‘s annual blood work revealed life threatening bone marrow cancer that led to loss of sight in her right eye barring her from further service. Staff Sgt. Eric Rod was Jessey’s final handler and best friend when she was officially retired from duty Nov. 20, 2012. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Aaron Allmon)

If you haven't watched the slide show of Jessey and his handler I highly recommend it. No one can come between a man and his dog... working dog or personal. It's heartbreaking to see them go but finding comfort in knowing they loved you back should bring some happiness knowing they are no longer in pain. Thank you for sharing this story.

Beautiful and heartwarming story about Jersey. As a wife of a retired AF I know that everyone is valuable including animals to make any mission successful. Everyone has a special part and duty to do in order to serve and protect this beautiful country. Thank you Jersey for your service and sacrifices.
