NLM Disaster Health Information Outreach & Collaboration Projects

NLM has offered funding for disaster information outreach projects supporting collaboration between libraries/information centers and disaster-related organizations, and for public and other libraries to conduct community preparedness and disaster awareness events.
Bethesda Hospitals' Emergency Preparedness Partnership (BHEPP)

A critical aspect of effective disaster response is developing plans and policies that are evidence-based. To contribute to the expanding scientific knowledge base in emergency management, BHEPP is conducting research on activities that may help improve preparedness and response. BHEPP started a program of 11 research and development initiatives in 2008 and focuses on four areas of investigation:
NLM Disaster Informatics Awards (2003-2007)

Between 2003 - 2007, NLM funded a number of research grants related to disaster management informatics.
Scaleable Information Infrastructure Awards (2003-2005)

NLM funded a number of projects to apply scalable advanced network infrastructure to health care testbeds. Many of these projects related to emergency preparedness and response. Recorded presentations are also available from a 2007 conference on these projects.
