Through the Employer Partnership Office of the U.S. Army Reserve, servicemembers can effectively leverage their military training and experiences for career opportunities in today's civilian job market. This office provides access to job openings with military-friendly employers in various industries across the country.

Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) External Link, Opens in New Window

The Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) is a premier science and engineering institution tasked with solving complex challenges for American warfighters. JWAC uses social and physical science techniques and engineering expertise to assist warfighters in support of national security. JWAC coordinates with all Unified Commands, Combatant Commands, Department of Defense elements, military services, and other departments to protect America and help the Armed Forces accomplish their missions.

Operation Warfighter (OWF) is a Department of Defense-sponsored internship program for wounded, ill, and injured servicemembers convalescing at military treatment facilities across the United States. Open to Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve components, OWF is a great opportunity for servicemembers in a medical hold status to build their resumes, explore employment interests, develop job skills, and gain valuable federal government work experience that will prepare them for the future.

The U.S. Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) is an integral part of the Army personnel lifecycle. ACAP provides comprehensive transition services to separating and retiring Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians, and their Family members. ACAP counselors deliver congressionally mandated pre-separation counseling, provide job search training, assist in the use of automated employment tools, conduct one-on-one employment counseling, and facilitate employment workshops and seminars.

The U.S. Army Civilian Human Resource Agency (CHRA) sponsors Civilian Personnel Online, the Army's official website for civilian employment opportunities around the world. CHRA encourages all AW2 Veterans and spouses to consider becoming part of the Army civilian team and to visit the employment page for more information on applying for jobs, to submit a resume online, or to learn about student and internship opportunities.

U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Education Initiative External Link, Opens in New Window

The Army Wounded Warrior Program Education Initiative (AW2EI) is an Army-sponsored program that allows AW2 Soldiers who continue on active duty (COAD) and AW2 Veterans to earn an advanced degree at the University of Kansas. It is managed through Fort Leavenworth with the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) as the designated lead command. Program graduates return to the Army as a civilian or military instructor with the Command and General Staff College or other TRADOC locations.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.

U.S. Department of the Navy Office of Civilian Human Resources-Northeast External Link, Opens in New Window

The Office of the Civilian Human Resources-Northeast has a Wounded Warrior Team at the Department of the Navy Human Resource Service Center Northeast, which consist of 4 full-time HR specialist and 3 contractors, one of which works at the Wounded Warrior Battalion, Camp Lejuene, NC.  The team travels to military hospitals, career fairs, and VA hospitals to assist the Wounded with completing resumes, and job placement with the Federal Government with a focus on the Department of the Navy.

The Treasury Department is the executive agency responsible for promoting economic prosperity and ensuring the financial security of the United States. The Department of the Treasury is organized into two major components the Departmental offices and the operating bureaus. The Departmental Offices are primarily responsible for the formulation of policy and management of the Department as a whole, while the operating bureaus carry out the specific operations assigned to the Department. Our bureaus make up 98% of the Treasury work force.

The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) is the first joint military and civilian organization providing a gateway through which applicants enter the Armed Service. USPEMCOM recognizes the specialized training and experience of former servicemembers, including wounded warriors, and works closely with the AW2 Career and Education Section to evaluate possible job placements for wounded warriors interested in serving in civilian positions.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission External Link, Opens in New Window

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates the nation's civilian use of byproduct, source, and special nuclear materials to ensure adequate protection of the public health and safety, to promote the common defense and security, and to protect the environment. NRC is willing to work with wounded warriors on employment opportunities at the Commission.

VA Montgomery G.I. Bill External Link, Opens in New Window

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Montgomery G.I. Bill program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training, and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following release from active duty. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 30.

VA Post 9/11 G.I. Bill External Link, Opens in New Window

The Post- 9/11 G.I. Bill is an education benefit program through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for servicemembers and Veterans who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Benefits are payable for training pursued on or after August 1, 2009. No payments can be made under this program for training pursued before that date.

Under the Veterans Employment Coordination Service (VECS) Severely Injured Veterans Employment Initiative, a network of Regional Veterans Employment Coordinators (RVEC) stand ready to provide personal hands-on assistance, helping to expand opportunities to VA employment. VECS seeks to ensure that severely injured Veterans from Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom have the tools for success and access to the resources and networks necessary to join the VA workforce.

AbilityOne is the largest source of jobs in the United States for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities. AbilityOne serves thousands of injured servicemembers in a variety of employment environments nationwide. More than 600 national nonprofit organizations employ these individuals and provide quality goods and services to the federal government, mostly the Department of Defense.

Able Forces is a veteran-owned 501(c)(3) non-profit with a Mission to provide career-oriented employment and community-based job preparation training to veterans with significant disabilities, with an emphasis on Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans suffering from physical disabilities, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

America's Adopt A Soldier works to make a difference in the lives of Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families. Local chapters hosting packing events, raise funds for postage and event support, and pack, and ship packages. They sponsor local and national events that focus on Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families, such as workshops for post-traumatic stress disorder and the Wounded Warrior Path To Strength, a four-day course with corporate sponsors providing healing, knowledge, and social capital.

American Corporate Partners (ACP) offers free career counseling and mentoring to recently returned Veterans by professionals from American corporations. ACP is open to servicemembers from all branches of service, with a particular focus on those who have been severely wounded and their spouses.

The Armed Forces Foundation is dedicated to providing comfort and solace to members of the United States Armed Forces community by providing financial support, career counseling services, homeowners' education, recreational therapy programs, and funding awareness projects.

Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) supports blinded and visually impaired Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families through the rehabilitation process and adjustment to vision loss. BVA Field Service Officers have in-depth knowledge on rehabilitation options, benefits counseling, resources, career advising, and many other topics. BVA's Operation Peer Support initiative invites blinded Soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan to meet each other and other Veterans who have adjusted to vision loss.

Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors is a free, safe and healing sanctuary where our wounded warriors and their families can relax, reconnect and recover from the horrific effects of war. Our facility includes developing partnerships with local non-profit organizations who will offer various nature-focused, evidence-based, non-clinical therapy programs for the service member, their spouses and their children. Located 60 miles outside of Washington, DC, in Bluemont, VA, Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors serves outpatients from the new Walter Reed National Medical Center at Bethesda and the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.

The Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) helps Soldiers transition to civilian careers. CODE assists organizations that provide job placement and training to Veterans and on engaging the media and public forums to raise public awareness and demonstrate how private companies can hire Veterans. Their mission is to create a national campaign that will assist organizations that provide former servicemembers with job placement, training, and educational services.

Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc. External Link, Opens in New Window

The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc., provides financial and educational assistance to surviving and severely wounded servicemembers and their Families with children at home under age 18, who have been affected by the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Their college grants program provides scholarships for single wounded servicemembers as well. They also provide immediate emergency funding that provides assistance to Families at risk of foreclosure or loss of housing.

The CompTIA Educational Foundation Creating Futures program provides free online information technology training and certification to underserved audiences, Veterans, individuals with disabilities, dislocated workers, youth at risk, women, and minorities. Training and certification through the Creating Futures program is to help those individuals who are pursuing a career in the IT industry and do not have the means to obtain IT training and certification on their own.

The Crane Learning and Employment Center for Veterans with Disabilities (CLEC) works closely with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana. CLEC assists with job placement of military Veterans who have service-connected disabilities and are in need of vocational rehabilitation to achieve their career goals. Participants receive individual attention from CLEC staff to determine individual needs and an appropriate course of action for the Veteran to build a successful future.

Prince George's Community College provides high quality educational opportunities. Today, more than 100 programs of study, including credit and noncredit courses, and distance learning options, prepare students to embark on a new career, upgrade their employment skills, or transfer to a four-year institution. The portal is designed to help people prepare for the workplace and build their careers, and their social networking platform connects job seekers with each other and career mentors. The G.I. Go Fund focuses on assisting Veterans as they transition from military to civilian life. The G.I. Go Fund offers assistance on securing employment, enrolling in Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, education advancement, and other programs. The G.I. Jericho Project is constructing two new Veterans residences in the Bronx, which will provide 132 studio apartments to homeless and low-income Veterans by the end of 2011. Jericho also provides supportive apartments and its full range of support services to 40 homeless and low-income Veterans. Every Veteran who calls Jericho home will have access to employment and education assistance, substance abuse counseling, and Family counseling.

The Mission Continues Fellowship Program challenges post-9/11 Veterans, as our nation's greatest assets, to continue their service after the military. As Fellows, they serve their communities by working at nonprofit organizations of their choice. During that time, Fellows are eligible for a cost-of-living stipends, and receive training to translate military skills into the civilian workforce. The Monmouth University School of Social Work is cognizant of their duty to serve vulnerable populations such as persons who have experienced combat either directly or indirectly. The Coming Home Project at Monmouth has two goals: 1) to educate and prepare new Masters of Social Work graduates to work specifically with Veterans and their Families, and 2) to educate and prepare existing social service providers and agencies to be better equipped to work with returning Veterans and their Families.

MVLE, Inc., takes pride in helping those who have served. Their focus is helping with transitioning from the military workforce to the civilian sector. MLVE, Inc., works with individuals facing barriers to employment within the community. In 2011 they began a new employment initiative providing employment and support services to Veterans.

The Washington State Command Council of the National Association for Black Veterans, Inc., (NABVETS) provides strategic advocacy on behalf of its membership and personal advocacy on behalf of Veterans seeking assistance with Department of Veterans Affairs claims.

National Industries of the Blind (NIB) Wounded Warrior Program reaches out to wounded OIF and OEF Veterans to inform them of the opportunities for training, internships, job placement, and careers within NIB and the 250 locations across the country. NIB is a federally mandated program which employs blind and visually impaired person to provide products and services to federal government customers. They have opened their program to all Veterans, regardless of physical limitations.

The National Organization on Disability (NOD) operates the Wounded Warrior careers program which provides career planning and support services to Wounded Warriors, Veterans and their Families, and for Service members who are referred from Advocates/RCCs.  They promote employment and provide full participation of America's 54 million people with disabilities in all aspects of life.  They design programs that address employment issues for adults and youth with disabilities.  Help employers hire, train, and retain job-seekers with disabilities by offering students with disabilities an early introduction to the workplace.  They also learn from employment demonstration programs and research—and communicate what works.

NeuroRestorative is the leading provider of post-acute specialized brain injury rehabilitation programs. With more than 100 programs located in 20 states, they offer specialized, innovative rehabilitation in environments of care are carefully created to provide NeuroRehabilitation, NeuroBehavioral, Supported Living, In-Home Supports or Outpatient Treatment. OnPoint Performance Solutions is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business founded to employ our most skilled and proven wounded veterans. Our Forgotten Warriors provides short-term structured housing for active duty servicemembers and Veterans who recently sustained emotional and cognitive injuries in the line of duty. The staff helps warriors increase their level of independent functioning. The staff affirms warriors as the heroes they are and increase the warriors' determination to overcome obstacles and challenge others to follow their example.

Park University is an independent, private institution with 43 campus centers in 21 states, most on military installations, and extensive online degree programs. Transitional Living Services' mission is to provide quality services to veterans who are homeless, disabled or disadvantaged. TLS operates a transitional living center that reaches out to homeless veterans throughout northeast Illinois. Two rooms have been adapted for veterans in wheelchairs. In 2009, the Department of Labor awarded TLS a grant to help homeless veterans find civilian careers. TLS also is among a network of collaborators in a project that offers mental health services to veterans, military personnel and their families.

The Veterans Technology Program assists post-9/11 veterans as they transition from the military into corporate careers, preparing them specifically for technology and operations careers in global companies. It is an educational initiative offered by Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies and the coursework is delivered entirely online. The program is presently underwritten by JP Morgan Chases & Co. and free to veterans and military personnel that served on active duty post 9/11/01.

The Veterans Technology Program is a non-credit, certificate program and is a free program that is available to both employed and unemployed, post-9/11 veterans with a minimum of a high school diploma. The program is comprised of four certificates and the courses range from 6-15 weeks in length. The courses are entirely online enabling veterans to participate from any location and access their coursework at any time. The intent of the program is to develop plans specific to the Veteran's personal skill sets, interests, and goals, in addition to providing an understanding and insight into corporate culture. Participants learn to create cover letters and resumes as well as research companies and execute job searches.

The Warrior Gateway helps Veterans, servicemembers, guardsmen, reservists, Families and caregivers find the services they seek, including counseling, youth services, financial services, and health topics. The interactive site lists over 30,000 public, nonprofit, and for-profit programs. Service providers can share updates and other information via their online profiles. Users can add, rate, and comment on organizations, building on the military tradition of "taking care of each other."

WarriorWorks connects wounded warriors with corporate mentors nationwide. They specialize in helping those who are not ready to start a new career but are ready to begin exploring career possibilities. In addition, WarriorWorks provides wounded warriors with relationships that are more than friendship and guidance. Their aim is to develop training and work opportunities that help wounded warriors start a new career at their own pace.

The West Virginia Division of Veteran's Affairs was created in 1945 by the West Virginia Legislature to care for the patriotic West Virginians who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This is one of the most comprehensive programs in the nation to assist severely wounded/injured/ill students transition from the military to civilian life. It provides a 48-month scholarship including room and board (supplementing the GI Bill); a three-layered mentoring program; training from the nation's leaders in industry, business and government; and robust networking to position for a rewarding career in chosen profession. Eligibility is based on character and motivation and not academic background.

The Yellow Ribbon Fund assists injured service members and their families while they are recovering at Walter Reed/Bethesda and Fort Belvoir, VA. In late 2011, the Yellow Ribbon Fund will begin offering programs to help with housing and legal issues for injured veterans. Also, we have a special focus on the caregivers and team up with other organizations to help meet their needs.
