Ask the Consul

We endeavor to provide as much information as possible on our site about visa services at U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou.  However, if you are unable to find an answer to your question about visa services here, please send an email with the title “Ask the Consul” to consularouaga@state.gov.  In so doing, you will be helping us to improve the content of our website, and we will select commonly asked questions and post the answers here on this page.

How do I request an expedited appointment?

Due to the large demand for visa interviews we sometimes experience, we cannot accommodate all early appointment requests. We will attempt to accommodate requests for early interviews if the appointment has been made well in advance of the intended travel date, or if the need to travel is the result of unforeseen developments.

To make a request for an expedited visa appointment, please email the Consular Section at consularouaga@state.gov.

Your email should include the following information:

  • Full name of the Visa Applicant
  • Date of Birth of the Visa Applicant
  • Passport Number of the Visa Applicant
  • Contact Number
  • Current Interview Date
  • Reason for expedited interview

If your early appointment request has been approved, you will receive a response from the Consular Section within three business days. If you have not heard from us within that period, you may assume the request was not approved.

Early appointments will be given to applicants where legitimate travel needs are warranted. If a request for an early appointment does not meet the above-mentioned criteria, the appointment shall not be granted.

Requests for earlier appointment for a second interview soon after a recent nonimmigrant visa refusal are generally not granted.
