Pentagon Police Requirements for Employment

The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is actively seeking highly qualified and motivated applicants to serve as uniformed Federal Police Officers at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. and RRMC, Adams County, PA. We are currently hiring for Police Officer positions with a salary of $52,018–$58,401 (full performance $93,672).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must have at least 1 year of police experience or a Bachelor's degree, in Criminal Justice or a related field, from an accredited university or college.
  • Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance
  • Possess a valid drivers license and good driving record
  • Have not been convicted of any offense involving domestic violence or a felony
  • Successfully complete oral interview, medical examination, physical fitness evaluation, drug testing and a favorable background check
  • Successfully complete a 12–week basic police–training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
  • Successfully complete an in–house 12–week training and evaluation program upon completion of FLETC and upon return to the Pentagon
  • If prior active duty military service, must have DD Form 214 showing honorable discharge

Physical Requirements:

  • All candidates will be given a thorough physical examination and a physical evaluation battery
  • Vision must be at least 20/200 in each eye, correctable to 20/20
  • Hearing Test

Benefits:

  • Compensation:
    • Police Officer positions start at a salary of $52,018–$58,401 with a full performance $93,672. (salary varies with federal pay tables and experience)
    • Overtime is compensated at the rate of 1–1/2 times your hourly rate
    • Night shift is paid at an additional 10% of the hourly rate
    • Sunday premium is paid at 25% of base salary
  • Annual leave is earned for total service at a rate of 13 days during the first three years, 20 days for 3 plus years to 15 years, 26 days for 15 plus years
  • Sick leave is earned at a rate of 13 days per year, regardless of years of service, 10 paid holidays annually
  • Government retirement program/Thrift Savings Plan available
  • Medical/Dental and Long–Term Care insurance plans are offered
  • May qualify for National Capital Region's transit benefit program ($100 per month)
  • Uniforms, laundry, and equipment are furnished at no cost to the officer
  • On site fitness center provided free of charge

Units of Assignment:

Once you have successfully completed all phases of your recruit training and have the required time–in–grade, you may apply for specialized training and assignments in the following areas:
  • Field Training Officer (specialty position salary at a 6% higher rate of pay)
  • Motorcycle Squad
  • Bicycle Squad
  • K–9 Unit (specialty position salary at a 6% higher rate of pay)
  • Emergency Response Team (specialty position salary at a 6% higher rate of pay)
  • Protective Service Unit (specialty position salary at a 6% higher rate of pay)
  • Traffic Enforcement
  • Evidence & Court Liaison
  • Logistic and Fleet Management Unit
