Eligibility
Native American
(Indian) Preference
Indian preference may apply to positions within the Bureau of
Indian Affairs of the U.S. Department of the Interior and the
Indian Health Service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services. Eligible applicants who are members of a Federally
recognized tribe, and who are interested in pursuing employment
with these organizations when PMF positions are available, may be
required to submit a completed BIA Form 4432, Verification of
Indian Preference for Employment in Bureau of Indian Affairs and
Indian Health Service. If these agencies have such positions,
the Form BIA 4432 is available under the
Become A PMF\Application Process
section. Such PMF appointment opportunities are rare.
Applicants who can claim Indian Preference should follow these
steps:
- Obtain the BIA Form 4432 from the Become A PMF\Application
Process webpage,
- Fill out the form and have it signed accordingly,
- Obtain the 2013 Alternative Fax Cover Sheet from the Become A
PMF\Application Process
- Fill out the fax, attach it to the BIA Form 4432, and fax it to
the number shown on the cover sheet.
This process exists for applicants to the PMF Class of 2013 only
and valid through the same deadline as submitting supporting
documentation for veterans' preference (see Timeline). If the applicant is
selected as a Finalist, the PMF Program Office will notify the
Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Service of those
selected as a Finalist and having a completed BIA Form 4432 on
file.
