Obama crony wins contract to give phones to jobless

Rep. Tim Griffin, Arkansas Republican, said the cellphone spectrum is poorly suited to be a user’s primary Internet portal and that any resume tapped out with two fingers on a cellphone screen would be sure to be sloppy. Mr. Griffin opposes the expansion, but TracFone’s proposal to meet the requirements in the form of a high-end cellphone rather than a workhorse desktop connection is an “outrage,” he said.

Griffin opens Conway office for greater access

Griffin and the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce officiated a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at the office located at 1105 Deer Street, Suite 12. Griffin said the district office near Conway's downtown will be a center for outreach and community events, but "more than anything," it will be a hub for the communities far removed from Little Rock. Griffin's Little Rock office was reorganized, he said, and his lease renegotiated to cut down about 1,000 square feet for an annual savings of about $15,000. With the new Conway office, savings are about $3,000 a year, he said. The...

Griffin to open office in Conway

Griffin’s in-state staff still totals seven workers, he said. After giving up about 1,000 square feet of his office space in Little Rock, Griffin said his annual rent was reduced by $18,988. Rent on the Conway space was less than that, at $15,600. “We’re actually saving money,” Griffin said.

It really is.” Griffin notes that much of the company’s business is providing furnishing for luxury jets. “The next time you hear politicians bashing people buying the jets that you put work in…If you’re standing near them, shout out at them “Hey, that’s not fair!” because these are great paying jobs.”

Arkansas Delegation Backs Extension Of Debt Ceiling

The bill would require the Senate and House to pass a budget by mid-April or see their paychecks withheld. The Senate has not approved a formal budget resolution in more than three years. “If you don’t do your job, you shouldn’t be paid for it,” said Rep. Tim Griffin, R-Little Rock. Lawmakers would eventually get their paychecks because of a constitutional limit on tampering with their own pay. They can only change pay for future sessions of Congress. Reps. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, Tom Cotton, R-Dardanelle, Rick Crawford, R-Jonesboro, and Griffin voted in favor of the bill, which passed 285-...

Griffin weighs in on debt ceiling debate

As a new member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Griffin waited several hours for his turn at the microphone during a hearing on the debt ceiling. Last up, Griffin noted that most of his questions for the panel of economists had been asked and answered. He used his five minutes to reaffirm the GOP position that federal spending cuts – and not tax increases – are needed to reduce the long-term debt. “We just had an agreement here in Congress that raised taxes,” said Griffin, R-Little Rock. “And, the bottom line is that the tax increase we got did nothing to impact the deficit with any...

GOP congressmen push Obama to address nation’s ‘dire financial straits’ in State of the Union

“It seems to me in order for us to address our big fiscal problems — debt, deficit, and entitlement reform — we are going to have to have the American people on the same page,” one of the letter’s authors Arkansas Republican Rep. Tim Griffin explained to The Daily Caller in a Friday interview.... Griffin recalled to TheDC a Wall Street Journal report in which House Speaker John Boehner noted that “the president said to me, ‘We don’t have a spending problem.’” “I believe we need to do an intervention with the president, and this is part of that,” he said. “I believe that the young people of...
