Collaboration and Ideation (C&I)
Objectives and Strategies
- Execute the Virtual Office, Community, and Computing (VOCC) to promote collaboration and critical thinking, which fosters insight and ultimately innovation (ideation).
- Provide an environment for collaborative CASL development and assist in demonstrating CASL-developed Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities (VERA) to CASL partners, industry, and potential customers and users.
Requirements Drivers
- The VOCC delivers a unified collaboration platform and creative work environment to support CASL’s mission, and it has two primary goals
- Under one virtual roof, bring together the best scientists, researchers, students, and design and application engineers
- Successfully operate and advance a state-of-the-art scientific collaboration space (the VOCC Laboratory) that supports all CASL R&D use cases
Outcomes and Impact
- More intense focus on collaborative 3D data processing and visualization
- F-5 upgrades: provided enhanced video and audio communication and more options for modeling and model interactivity
- Deployed modeling software on Immersion Room & F-5
- Deployed VOCC Broadcast Paradigm to record collaborative communications for live cast or rebroadcast
- Developed VOCC metrics database and improved collection of utility data
