ME/CFS Workshops and Conferences
State of the Knowledge Workshop on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Sponsored by the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health in collaboration with the Trans-NIH ME/CFS Research Working Group, the State of the Knowledge Workshop on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) Research on April 7-8, 2011 convened 32 investigators from numerous scientific disciplines. Topics covered included infectious diseases, systems biology, immunology, neurology, exercise physiology/energy metabolism, diagnosis and biomarkers, and treatments.
The workshop goals were to:
- document what is known about the illness
- identify gaps in knowledge needing more research
- identify opportunities in science and technology that might advance biomedical research on ME/CFS
