The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is part of the Office of the Director of NIH. ORWH works in partnership with the 27 NIH Institutes and Centers to ensure that women’s health research is part of the scientific framework at the NIH—and throughout the scientific community.

Since the ORWH was established in 1990, significant progress has been achieved in four benchmark areas:

- (2) Research on women’s health and sex differences has expanded.
- (3) Career development and mentoring programs have increased the number of women’s health researchers.
- (4) Research results have been translated into health benefits for women.
