By Rich Griset (Capital News Service)

RICHMOND - A Senate bill requiring the Virginia Department of Education to hire a liaison to help military children adjust to frequent moves has unanimously passed the House. "We have so many thousands of military children. We want to make sure that transition for military children is as seamless as possible," said the bill's sponsor, Sen. John C. Miller, D-Newport News. Last week, the House voted 99-0 in favor of Senate Bill 299. The Senate had unanimously approved the bill in January. The bill now goes to Gov. Bob McDonnell to be signed into law.
