Pantex Occupational Medicine is responsible for:
• Working with site management to maintain a healthful work environment.
• Providing health examinations in support of fitness for duty requirements
• Diagnosis and treatment of occupational injury or illness
• Providing Medical Review Officer (MRO) support to the Pantex Substance Abuse Program
• Employee health counseling and health promotion.
• Emergency and disaster program support.
• Confidentiality under the Law
• Medical monitoring programs, including managed care
• Medical records management
Pantex Occupational Medicine Requirements
Pantex Occupational Medicine programs, staff and facilities must meet the Federal and State requirements for their work, including those found in the:
• Code of Federal Regulations
• Texas Administrative Code
• United States Code
• Department of Energy Orders
• Relevant consensus standards, such as those of the National Fire Protection Association
Staff Qualifications
Pantex Occupational Medicine healthcare personnel include individuals licensed in accordance with all Federal and State requirements:
• Physicians – MD and/or DO
• Advanced Practice Nurses (Nurse Practitioners)
• Registered Nurses
• Medical Laboratory Technicians
• X-Ray Technicians
In addition, Pantex Occupational Medicine staff members are receive training and are certified for any specialized tasks they perform such as:
• Audiometry (hearing testing)
• Spirometry (pulmonary function / breathing testing)
• Medical Laboratory /X-Ray Technology
• Medical Review Officer
• Breath Alcohol Testing
• Drug Screening Urine Collection
Facilities
Pantex Occupational Medicine is independently inspected and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
The Pantex Medical Laboratory is certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) requirements.
The Pantex Medical Laboratory is also certified by the Department of Transportation as a drug-screening specimen collection and breath-alcohol testing site.
Urgent Care
Pantex Occupational Medicine provides urgent medical care on a limited basis within established medical protocols.
Those seeking urgent care services are seen without appointment and ahead of non-urgent cases. Upon evaluation, urgently ill or injured employees are transferred to Amarillo acute care facilities.
Patient Bill of Rights
Patients shall be treated with respect, consideration, and dignity.
Patients should be provided appropriate privacy.
Patient disclosures and records are treated confidentially and, except when required by law, patients are given the opportunity to approve or refuse their release.
Patients shall be provided, to the degree known, complete information concerning their diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and prognosis.
Patients shall be given the opportunity to participate in decisions involving their health care.
Information is available to patients and staff concerning:
• Patient rights, including those specified in A, B, C, D, and E, above
• Services available at the Occupational Medicine Department
• Provisions for emergency care during off-shifts
• Methods for expressing grievances and suggestions to the organization.
