About Talega

Overview
Talega consists of buildings that provide an expeditionary support base with easy access to many training ranges aboard Camp Pendleton which include: live-fire ranges, major-landing beaches, landing zones, drop zones, combat towns and an urban training facility.

Billeting
There are several Quonset huts aboard Camp Talega that are available for billeting and a few that function as office spaces. These huts give the RSU capability to provide billeting for up to 600 personnel.

Talega Quonset Huts

Units and individual troops planning on billeting in the huts may checkout linen, blankets and pillows during working hours from the DPC/RSU Supply, Building 64461; after hours checkout must be coordinated with Logistics. If you have further questions regarding billeting for yourself or for unit, contact the DPC/RSU Logistics directly.

Facilities & MCCS

Exchange (Building 62408): 62 Area/San Mateo possesses the closest Exchange and Barbershop. SOI has the closest Military Clothing.
Hours of operation: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday - Friday; Closed weekends and holidays

Barbershop (Building 62408):
Hours of operation: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Thursday; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday; Closed on holidays

Military Clothing (Building 520400):
Hours of operation: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Friday; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday

Chapels:
San Mateo chapel (Building 62440)
Hours of operation: 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Protestant Service; 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Catholic Service

Recreational Equipment Check-Out. SOI has a recreational equipment check-out point.
Weight Room (building 64322)
Hours of operation: 5:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday - Friday; See the 64 Area duty for holidays and weekends
Recreation Room (building 64322): The recreation room includes vending machines, television, VCR, ping-pong tables
Hours of operation: 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m; Movies for the VCR can be checked out from the 64 Area Duty

Park Pavilion (located immediately south of the Camp)
Hours of operation: 5:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Charcoal grill available for use. First come first serve basis.
Volleyball and Basketball courts. First come first serve basis.
Alcohol is authorized in this area.
Areas may be scheduled through the S-3, areas not scheduled will be on a first come, first served basis.

Parking

Parking: Parking for visiting units aboard Camp Talega is only authorized in designated parking areas. There are three parking lots aboard the camp.
Parking lot #1: located in the lower southeast corner of the Camp. Authorized for POV parking only.
Parking lot #2: located in the lower southwest corner of the Camp. No parking is authorized unless previously approved by the RSU Logistics.
Parking lot #3: located in the upper northeast corner of the Camp. Authorized for POV parking. Tactical vehicle parking authorized upon approval of the RSU Logistics.

Tactical Vehicles: All tactical vehicle movement aboard Camp Talega must utilize a ground guide.
Parking of tactical vehicles must be coordinated with the RSU Logistics.
Drivers and operators must wear proper safety equipment at all times when operating vehicles or equipment.
All parked tactical vehicles must use a drip pan.

Speed Limit: The speed limit throughout Camp Talega and when passing troops in formation on San Mateo Road is 15 MPH.

Seatbelts and Cell Phones: Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
Cell phones are authorized while driving aboard Camp Pendleton only if using a hands free device.

Smoking and Alcohol: Alcohol consumption aboard Camp Talega is authorized only in the recreation room, building 64322, and in the park (barbecue pavilion) just south of the camp. Smoking is allowed in designated areas only. Units will be briefed on these areas upon check-in.
